SHILLONG, April 30: The Workers Power of Meghalaya — a federation of 13 plus organized and unorganized sector  workers’ unions and associations— along with Thma U Rangli Juki(TUR) will hold a meeting at 9 am on  May 1, at Madan Iewrynghep in Shillong, to celebrate the International Labour Day. A rally will be taken out after the meeting. The federation, along with TUR, will also be submitting a memorandum to the State government demanding an increase in the minimum wages, which sadly is one of the lowest in the region, and compliance to the legal obligations on workers’ rights such as leave- Cl, EL, maternity benefit, PF, job security by doing away with exploitative contract jobs etc.
