Intertiol Music Day celebrated

SILCHAR, June 24: It has been a celebrated aphorism that music is the food for the soul because it alone has the power to uplift both the body and the mind. Shilpi Sansad, an organization celebrated the Intertiol Music Day on June 21. They organized a programme in which various renowned artistes of the town enthralled the audiences with their magical voices. The programme was held in a homely atmosphere at Kunjalata Marriage Hall of this town. The first floor of the hall was abundantly decorated to welcome the artistes. It began with the singing of an immortal song from the legendary Bhupen Hazarika, ‘Manush manusher jonno’, which is also the organization’s motto song.

The celebration began with a beautiful rendition by a young singer of the organization, Tuhin Majumdar. Sangeeta Deb, an artiste sang song beautiful classical songs, Tagore and various devotiol songs, Bhajans.

 The presence of famous singers, Swagata Lakhi Chakraborty and Partho Saha, added another feather in the day’s programme. Their beautiful rendition of Tagore and folk songs was the icing on the cake. They also sang various modern songs that kept the audiences spellbound. The sitar maestro, Jayanta Choudhury, graced the occasion. His delicate fingers on the chords of the sitar cast a magic spell upon the persons present.

 The member-artistes of the organization sang a number of songs. The celebration ended after the thanks giving speech by Jagadish Choudhury, president, Shilpi Sansad. The ambience was filled with some extraordiry music notes, which left a heavenly feeling in the hearts of the people present.
