Intertiol Yoga Day observed

Silchar, June 21: As the country celebrated Intertiol Yoga Day, the day has been also observed in the premises of court compound from early morning today. The programme, organized by the district administration, began with lighting of the auspicious lamp by Dilip Kumar Paul, Deputy Speaker, BJP, Assam. In his iugural speech, S Viswathan, IAS, the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, laid down the benefits of performing yogic exercise on daily basis. It was followed by speeches by the guests present on the occasion. A large of yoga enthusiasts from different walks of life joined to celebrate the day.

 From 7 am began an hour-long presentation of various yogic exercises on the court compound. A discussion-cum-workshop was also conducted from 830 am in the District Library auditorium. It was organized by Patanjali Yogapeeth. Yoga competition took place on the same venue also organized by Patanjali Yogpeeth. After an hour-long interval, various cultural programmes were also held in the auditorium of the District Library. Among other who spoke on the occasion included Kamalendu Choudhury, District and Sessions Judge, Cachar and Rajveer Singh, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Cachar.
