Iron pipes recovered

Joysagar, May 17: Sivasagar Police recovered about 65 iron pipes from the southern side of the Purani Pukhuri of Joysagar on Wednesday. These smuggled iron pipes were worth around Rs 13.85 lakh and belonged to ONGC Sivasagar, as per the confession made before the police during interrogation by an iron pipe and crude oil smuggler, Paresh Das. Sources informed that Paresh Das and his associates had dug many artificial ponds in and around the historic Jerenga Pathar, Rupahi Pathar and also in Purani Pukhuri and Na-Pukhuri of Rudrasagar oil field area of ONGC under Joysagar Police Station.

Sivasagar Police have been conducting operation against crude oil and iron pipe smugglers since the last few months.
