‘Irregularity in results due to clerical errors’

SHILLONG, Feb 15: The irregularity in the results of Diploma in Elementary Education (Dl -Ed) is due to clerical errors at the regiol centre, Guwahati, confided the Commissioner and Secretary of Education Department Dold P Wahlang.

Admitting about the irregularities which he stated that it has nothing to do with the study centers in the state, Wahlang added that the problems will be fixed in 10-15 days time.

The irregularities surfaced when there were pupils who appeared for the exams were declared absent and the absentees were declared passed. The botch up in announcing the results created a storm in the serving elementary teaching community. They launched an agitation in the form of protest and even launched a sigture campaign that reaches the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Conceding about the incongruity that has caused anxiety in the elementary school teaching community, Wahlang said, it was due to clerical errors at the regiol centre of the tiol Institute open school (NIOS). There are around 7822 elementary teachers in the state, out of which 4362 are pursuing the Dl-Ed as per the directive of the tiol council for teacher education (NCTE). The grieving teachers who spoke to The Sentinel heave a sigh of relief when informed that rectification process is on and will complete in two weeks time. “Our two years of hard work would have gone to the drains”, a couple of DLEd candidates said.
