Is Norok on board?

FROM OUR STAFF CORRESPONDENT

SHILLONG, Dec 26: Security agencies are on their toes following the stoic silence of the self style commander-in chief (c-in-c) of United Achik Liberation Army (UALA) Norok Momin despite the general endorsement to a peace pact signed with the State government.

Even when the maximum of the cadres of this nearly disbanded Garo militant outfit is set to get themselves lodged in a desigted camp at the dysfunctiol Baljek Airport, West Garo Hills, Norok Momin stance still mystifies the security set up.

“Norok Momin along with the Chairman of the Outfit was part of the deliberations in May this year. He never turned up for the other meetings on grounds of ill health,” stated an official source involved in the series of discussions with the UALA under Novembirth Marak.

“Probably he wanted to unconditiolly set himself free from the chargesheet cases that is related to killings attributed to him,” stated the source.

Norok meaning ‘Hell’ was said to be a tormentor during his days with the ANVC (b)before he formed the UALA and forged with the deserted General Secretray of the GNLA Novembirth Marak  in 2013.

Going by the official source, the agreement with the UALA is virtually settled except for Norok Momin attempts to sulk. However, the 70 odd cadres of the militant outfit are set for integration but there can be cadres with different indulgence. Norok Momin influences cannot be left behind.

It may be mentioned that the UALA entered into a peace pact with the government on December 18.
