Islamic conference stresses on global peace

SILCHAR, Feb 16: The four-day conference of Islamic scholars from various parts of the county and Bangladesh held in the premises of Madani maidan in east Gobindapur, 15 km from here, which concluded on Monday laid stress on peace and harmony, education and spirituality. The Islamic scholars and thinkers in their speeches before the vast congregation wished all round progress and prosperity of the country and to held its head aloft. Maula Ahmed Syed Gobindapuri said peace and integrity among different communities is of paramount importance for a country.

 For this, Gobindapuri emphasized on the need for better education which alone could take the country forward. The chief-guest in the open session, Pathan Rafique Ahmed Mazahibi, president of Jamat-e-ulema-e-Hind, Gujarat, said India is emerging as a super power with its significant progress in the socio, economic and political ares. The country can beat advanced countries like America and Chi. He also pointed out that for the overall development of the people, social services and awareness are necessary. Among others who spoke on the occasion included Deoband Uttar Pradesh executive member, Syed Ahmed Khizir Shah and Abdul Barbhuya.

 The concluding day was earmarked for prayers for the welfare and wellbeing of humanity around the world and for bringing an end to the ongoing conflicts and strife among different communities. The conference became memorable for its various programmes that provided opportunity to around 200 children to participate in competitive events and show their talents. Besides, discussions and meetings on Islamic subjects were part of the events. The conference was attended by a large number of delegates from different Islamic organizations.
