It was painful recovering from injury: Robben

Amsterdam, April 28: Dutch footballer Arjen Robben, who has been sidelined since late March with an abdomil tear, is now fit but says recuperating was painful.

The 31-year-old missed an important Euro 2016 qualifier with the Netherlands and both encounters of Bayern Munich’s Champions League quarter-fil matches against FC Porto.

“I’ve had a lot of injuries in my career, but this is something new. I’ve never had something like this before. In everyday life there’s so much you do that requires the abdomil muscle. You’re not able to get up - sit down, go to the toilet. You’re always in pain,” Robben was quoted as saying by football-orange.com.

Bayern coach Pep Guardiola said it he is a special player and the team needed him the most now.

“We need him. It’s great news that he’s back. But let’s not forget that he’s been out for five weeks. He won’t need long to regain his fitness and rhythm. Robben is a special player. He could play, he is one of many options on the table,” said Guardiola. Despite being out for almost two months he is still the second top scorer in the German Bundesliga this season. He has some tough games ahead too with the German Cup semifil against Borrusia Dortmund and then Bayern meet Barcelo in the semifil of the Champions League. IANS
