Itanagar Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Gupta visits Naharlagun Oju Welfare Association

ITANAGAR: Deputy Commissioner, Itanagar Capital Complex Himanshu Gupta, along with Itanagar EAC Hengo Basar visited the office of the Oju Welfare Association (OWA) based at Naharlagun on Sunday.

The DC appreciated the philanthropic services being rendered by OWA for the greater cause of the helpless women and children are who are in dire need of a helping hand. He also appreciated Chairperson, OWA Ratan Anya for her selfless effort in carrying forward the vision of her Mother-in-law, Padmashree Lt. Binny Yanga, the founder of OWA.

During the visit, Ratan Anya highlighted the various schemes taken up by the organization.

The DC along with other dignitaries visited Oju Craft Centre where various handloom products are displayed for sale, followed by an introduction to Women Helpline-181, which is a telephone emergency service for distress women in difficult situations. The Women Helpline-181 and One Stop Center (OSC) are administered by DC, ICC itself. He also visited Legal Aid Clinic (LAC) from were all necessary legal aids and support are provided to the victims through advocates and para-legal volunteers.

The DC also visited the Child Care Institute (CCI) and interacted with the children, who presented a group song and a dance. Later he visited the lone Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA) of the State and assured to provide every possible help for those special children staying there.

He further visited ‘Swadhar Griha’ where the women victims are staying and had a one-on-one interaction with the victims. He also visited several vocational training units where the victims are provided skill training.
