Janata Dal (Secular) Releases first list of Candidates

Guwahati: The Janata Dal (Secular) has announced its names of 11 candidates on Sunday for the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly election and one for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

It is for the first time that JD (S) is contesting the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly election and in the two Lok Sabha seats in the state.

JD (S) state president Rokom Apang while releasing the first list of candidates said that former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Gegong Apang who is also the JD (S) convener for northeast will contest from Tuting-Yingkiong constituency in Upper Siang district.

The JD (S) has fielded Lama Lobsang Gyatso from Mukto Assembly seat against the Chief Minister Pema Khandu and it is for the first time that Mukto Assembly seat would witness a contest since 2004.

The other candidates announced by the party are Tsering Dorjee (Tawang), Wangshu Wangsu (Longding-Pumao), Wangmaan Lowangcha (Khonsa East), Dr. Rima Taipodia (Likabali), Byadar Loya (Aalo West), Tapang Taloh (Pasighat West), Takem Paleng (Lekang), Shotike Hopak (Namsai) and Pike Pulu (Bordumsa Diyun).

Bandey Mili will contest for the Arunachal East Parliamentary seat from JD (S) party.

The elections to the two Lok Sabha seats and the 60-member Arunachal Pradesh Assembly would be held simultaneously on April 11.

Pike Pulu from lone unreserved seat of 49 Bordumsa-Diyun in Changlang district.

The second list of the party for few more candidates would be released today and the party is expecting around 40 candidates to be fielded in various assembly constituency of the state.

Meanwhile, Apang informed that a youth leader Bandey Mili of Dibang Valley district is going to contest from two Arunachal East Parliamentary constituency from the JDS while the party ticket from one Arunachal West Parliamentary constituency would be announced in the second list which is expected to be released by today evening.

The candidates met former Prime Minister and National President of JD (S), HD Deve Gowda recently and were issued party tickets.
