Janata Dal United team on NorthEast visit from today

GUWAHATI: A team of the Janata Dal (United) (JD-U) is arriving in Guwahati on Monday for a two-day visit to the Northeast to take stock of the situation here vis-à-vis the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019. After taking stock of the situation relating to the Bill, the JD-U is going to take its stand on the Bill in the Rajya Sabha.

On Monday the JD-U leaders are going to meet leaders of the AGP and other organizations opposing the Bill like the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) in Guwahati. The team is supposed to visit some other States in the region on the Bill.

Earlier leaders of the AGP and the AASU had met JD-U chief and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who assured the Assam leaders of siding with the people of Assam in so far as the Bill is concerned.
