Jeelendra score hat-trick as Assam pip Sikkim 5-1

GUWAHATI, April 19: Assam made a solid start in the T Ao Soccer Championship defeating Sikkim by 4-1 in the iugural match held at the Indira Gandhi Athletic stadium here today. Jeelendra Brahma scored hat-trick in the game.

Host didn't take too much time to go ahead in the game as Jeelendra Brahma took full advantage of defence lapse to give his team the first goal in the 3rd minute. Jeelendra took just two minutes thereafter to score the second goal of the game capitalizing defence lapse once again. The opportunistic mid fielder completed his hat-trick at the fag end of the first half. However Sikkim reduced one before this goal. Sanjay Chetri's full blooded strike from inside the box went into the goal without giving any chance to Assam custodian Satish Singh.

Assam domited in the second half also and pumped in two more goals during the last 45 minutes of the game .Sibra rzary, after receiving a nice pass from Rahul Das, didn't make any mistake to make it 4-1 in the 51st minute. Thomson Langthasa scored the last goal of the match in the 83rd minute.

Earlier, sports minister Ajit Singh iugurated the tourment.
