Jhumur Dance Workshop of Sonapur Social Development Society, Demow in Assam Concludes on July 26

DEMOW, July 31: Under the patronage of Sonapur Social Development Society, an NGO, a Jhumur dance workshop was started in Athabari Tea Estate Kalyan Kendra from June 23. The students of Athabari, Kaliapani, Rajmai, Sunbecha, Mohkhuti, Thowra, Amlaguri, Rajabari and Krishna Bihari Tea Estates participated in the jhumur dance workshop which concluded on July 26. The closing ceremony of the workshop was held in Demow Kaliapani Public Playground where the participants of the workshop performed jhumur dance.

A general meeting was held which was presided over by Stephen Chaura, president of Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS), Moran Branch. A book titled Alap on jhumur dance was released by Dr. Diganta Gogoi, Assistant Professor of Hem Chandra Deba Goswami (HCDG) College in Nitaipukhuri.

In the meeting, Ajay Kumar Gogoi, secretary of Demow Press Club, Gauranga Chaura and other dignitaries along with mediapersons of Demow were present.
