JMB raising its ugly head again in Dhubri district

DHUBRI, June 24: The Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) operatives are reportedly spreading its tentacles in sars (riverrine areas) and interior villages along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Dhubri district.
Intelligence sources said they are indoctriting the youths in radical Islam for quite long time.
Though Dhubri and Barpeta both the districts in lower Assam harbouring the JMB activists, but Dhubri district provides more free access and cover to them compared to Barpeta district because of poor vigilance by police and porous riverine border.
An intelligence source informed that JMB activists gaining ground in border areas of Dhubri district because Border Security Forces (BSF) manning the Indo-Bangladesh border in Dhubri district, remain focused on guarding border only while poor strength of police and second line of defence have further helped the Islamic fundamental activists to explore the  advantages.
The source further informed nearly 17 activists active in this part of lower Assam reportedly created their strong shelter base to propagate their ideology of indoctriting among the youths.
“The audio-visuals of arms training, printing materials and books containing materials of physical torture perpetrated on them by Bangladesh government for last few years, being shown in the camps to ignite the youths and motivate them towards radicalization in Islam, which they say in danger,” the intelligence source further said. 
Anti-tiol propaganda was also a part of their indoctrition and social media like facebook, whatsapp, youtube come very handy and being used to spread messages by the Islamic fundamental activists.
It was only this week; a youth of Dhubri town was arrested for allegedly posting an anti-tiol text on social media on the day of India –Pakistan in ICC fil cricket match on June 18.
Police are also looking for three more accused allegedly involved in the posting and sharing the text. The text reportedly registered huge number of likes in the facebook, a police source informed.
When contacted, a top police officer unwilling to be quoted admitted the presence of JMB activists in Dhubri district.
He said that they were also getting inputs on the movement and some activities like spreading messages of Islamic radicalization, being carried by JMB in remote villages and villages adjacent to Indo-Bangladesh border by organizing camps in the district.
“We are very much alert on this reported activities by JMB activists, and a police team continuously monitoring the situation in the border villages. What is positive is that our intelligent regularly getting information on the JMB activities from the people of that community. So on any day, we will crack down on them,” he added. 
Dhubri has remained a safe sanctuary for the radical Islamic fundamentalists including JMB for quite long time, and it is evident of the fact that two accomplices accused in Burdwan blast case - Sahanur Ali alias Alom and Abdul Nur, were arrested by Dhubri police on December 19, 2014.
