JNU row: Sigture campaign organized by BJYM

SHLLONG, Feb 19: The BJYM today staged a sigture campaign to protest against the recent conflict between two groups of students over an event organised on the death anniversary of Afzal Guru at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) New Delhi. “We have organized this sigture campaign to protest against those people who have brought about a feeling of commul difference in the country by taking advantage of the recent incident which took place at JNU,” Eugenstar Kurkalang told newsmen here on Friday.

Stating that there are students from various section of society who are pursuing their study in this university, he said the BJYM will not tolerate anyone taking advantage of the incident by trying to bring religion or community to divide the people.

He said India is a democratic and secular country and the people should respect every religion and community.

“Our aim should be to uplift the county and not to bring a feeling of commul deference between the people,” he said.

He informed that they will soon send the sigtures garnered from the campaign to the central government to show their protest against those people involved in creating commul difference.
