Jorhat administration maintains vigil ahead of galand polls

JORHAT, Feb 20:  Company of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Sima Suraksha Bal (SSB), Border Security Force (BSF), and Indo-Tibetan Border Task Force (ITBTF) have started arriving at the Mariani Railway Junction under Jorhat district since Monday night for the galand Assembly election scheduled  to be held on February 27.

The Jorhat district administration and police are keeping vigil as security forces are moving to the poll-bound State. Around 36 Assembly constituencies fall within the five northern galand districts ,which will go to poll on February 27 and this is a hyper-sensitive zone, said sources.

The area is a heaven for several underground outfits from the region which frequently make transit through three tiol and intertiol border routes. Militants frequently visit their camps in Chi and Myanmar through the dense forests of galand, Aruchal Pradesh. A meeting to review the security scerio was held with public representatives, police, home guards, CRPF and Assam Rifles at the respective district headquarters in presence of the Superintendent of Police, Deputy Commissioner and Deputy Superintendent of Police.
