Jorhat administration to send students to historical places

JORHAT, Feb 20:  The Jorhat district administration will send hundreds of students and 10 officials of various schools  in the district visit places like Agra, Jaipur and Delhi, said Virendra Mittal, Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat, while interacting with media persons at Jorhat Press Club on Monday.

“The district administration has decided that selected students will be sent to the three places,” said the DC.  He added that Rs 10 lakh had been collected from illegal coal trade in the last few days by the district task force formed by the district administration. Sixteen cases have been registered against illegal coal trade in the district.

He also announced that the Government of Assam had decided to celebrate the festival of mami Brahmaputra (prayer to Brahmaputra) at Kakilamukh bank of the Brahmaputra from March 31 this year. Self-help groups and commercial traders will participate in this festival.  Traditiol games will be held in the mega festival and traditiol food stalls will also be set-up.
