Jorhat district administration launches eviction drive

Jorhat, June 11: The district administration of Jorhat has taken up eviction drive in the town area in the past few days in order to open the pavements in the town.  The administration has been taking up the drive in areas belonging to the Jorhat Municipal Board. They have damaged temporary shops, daily markets existing on the pavements and other business establishments which blocked the pavements in the town. The administration officials launched the drive in the streets like Newvill Road, A.T Road, Solititor Road, T. N Sarmah Path, Tarun Ram Phukan Road, and B. G Road. Hundreds of business establishments have been evicted during the drive. Jorhat MLA Hitendra th Goswami also asked the administration to take fruitful steps on the matter so that the illegal encroachment on the roads can be stopped. He also asked the administration to clear the encroachment in areas where the proposed multi-car parking building will be constructed in the heart of the town.
