Jorhat hit by storm and heavy rain

JORHAT, May 9: Heavy storm, rain and wind, which lasted for an hour, rocked the district of Jorhat on Wednesday at various places like Titabor. Mariani, Teok, Dergaon and Jorhat, following which hundreds of trees, tin roof sheets, electric posts, cable wires and tea garden shed trees were uprooted. The storm and rain which lasted for an hour was quite marginal as compared to the storm and wind that occurred four days ago, said sources from the metrological department of Assam Agricultural University. Today’s wind and rain forced people to stay indoors and park their vehicles away from tree sheds, electric poles and wires. APDCL and forest employees had a tough time clearing the roads and lanes after the storm.
