Jorhat NGO takes out fund-raising rally for Maharashtra water crisis

Jorhat, May 9: A non-government organization (NGO) in Jorhat has launched a massive drive in Jorhat district in order to provide assistance to the drought-affected people at Latur district in Maharastra.

‘Bridge of Hope Meleng Project’, the NGO took out a fund-raising rally at Meleng area in Jorhat district to help the people of Latur district in Maharastra who are facing drought and water crisis.

Hundreds of peoples in the district came out in large numbers to join the rally to save Latur and they offered fincial assistance to ease the water crisis. The organization has already taken initiative to send water tankers to help needy people in the drought-hit district.

Krish Kanta Dolakashoria, social worker under the project said, “Hundreds of people in the district came out in large numbers to help the drought-affected people in Latur.” He added that Bridge of Hope Project conducted the programme ‘I saved Latur’ under which dotion was collected.

Latur and the neighbouring districts of Beed and Osmabad, in Maharastra are facing one of the worst droughts in four decades.
