Jorhat-Tinsukia bound passenger train halted at Naharkatia Railway Station over suspicious situation

Tinsukia: The Jorhat-Tinsukia bound passenger train was halted at Naharkatia Railway station due to a suspicious situation in the train on Tuesday morning.

As per the reports by Railway Protection Force (RPF) an unidentified lady was allegedly carrying some suspicious IED like items from Sapekhati Railway Station in Charaideo District.

Speaking to The Sentinel Digital, Railway Protection Force (RPF) official from Tinsukia, PC Mishra said that they had inputs from their sources that a lady had boarded the Jorhat-Tinsukia bound passenger train (55913) on Tuesday morning. But got no trace of the lady.

The RPF along with local police officials of Naharkatia Police Station under Dibrugarh District and Security forces carried out a thorough investigation in the train for three times, but no suspicious items were recovered from the train, stated the RPF official.

The train was halted for several hours creating a panic situation among the passengers, informed the RPF official PC Mishra.

Meanwhile, police are also suspecting that the lady might have walk down the platform...somewhere near Nahakatia to Sapekhati and managed to escape.

Further police investigations are on.
