JORHAT, July 6: All five cases related to misuse of untied fund have been handed over to the Crime Investigative Department (CID) from the Jorhat Police which has created a sharp reaction among the citizens of Jorhat. In the scam that took place during the tenure of the then Deputy Commissioner Vishal Vasant Solanki, already two ADCs Anjav Chaliha and Bubul Lekharu, contractors Ujjal Jyoti Bora and Prabhat Dutta and an office assistant in the DC’s office, Ajit Burahgohain have been sent to jail.

All five cases have been handed over to the CID from the capacity of Jorhat Police which has raised the eyebrows of the people of Jorhat. At a time when investigation in the case was going on in full swing, to save the main culprits behind the scam, a lobby has been trying to derail the investigation, said police sources here.

According to a RTI activist Sanjay Tanti, the cases have been handed over to the CID so that they can be ‘easily maged’ and the scam can be covered.  He said that a force was trying to safeguard the culprits.
