Judo begins today

Shillong, Feb 14: Men's and women's judo will begin at the 12th South Asian Games 2016 here tomorrow in the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Sports Hall, Polo.

There are 12 weight categories in all and seven of the eight SAG 2016 countries are taking part, with Maldives the only country not fielding a team.

Judo will be split over the course of the last two days of the South Asian Games, with India expected to perform well.

The women's categories to be contested tomorrow are the Under-48kg, U-52kg, U-57kg and U-63kg. The men's categories are U-60kg, U-66kg, U-73kg and U-81kg. Prelimiry bouts will begin at 10:00am, with the fils at 4:00pm followed by medal ceremony.

On Tuesday the women's U-70kg and U-78kg and men's U-90kg and U-100kg bouts will take place from 9:30am, with the fils at 12 noon followed by medal ceremony.
