DIPHU: Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang will retire from political life if any work order in the name of his wife and children is there. He said that he had filed a defamation case in Gauhati High Court against two Assamese dailies. CEM Ronghang was addressing the media at a press conference held at Karbi Anglong Sports Stadium (KASA) conference hall on Wednesday.

CEM Ronghang said, “I have filed a Rs-100 crore civil defamation case in Gauhati High Court against those who want to create misunderstanding among the people of Karbi Anglong. I will take my fight to the Supreme Court. In the matter in which the courts have given me a clean chit, a news channel has been running the reports repeatedly. This is a political conspiracy to create misunderstanding between me and the public. Today I have filed a civil defamation case against them in Gauhati High Court.”

In the press conference he said that the State and Central governments had approved City Infra Development Fund (CIDF) of Rs. 100 crore for Diphu town.

He said, “A CIDF of Rs. 100 crore has been approved by the State and Central governments. We have been asked to submit a concept paper within a week. We are preparing it. It will be used for building roads of paver blocks in Diphu. Solar street lights will be erected.”

Inter-State Bus Terminal will be constructed in Diphu for which they were looking for land, he added. “The roadside markets will also be shifted as the roads have become congested due to them and vehicles met with accidents often,” he said.

He also said the PMGSY road to be constructed in Borpung Tarapung in Nilip MAC constituency in Karbi Anglong would be one of the longest in India.
