KAAC, DHAC leaders reiterate demand for Autonomous State

Hamren, Oct 30: Bharatiya Jata Party (BJP) held its organizatiol meet at Joysing Doloi Auditorium Hall, Diphu on Monday. The meet was chaired by BJP State president Ranjit Dass and attended by Union Law and Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang, DHAC CEM Debolal Garlosa along with chairperson of DHAC, Renu Langthasa, chairman of KAAAC, Horensing Bey, MLA Mansing Rongpi, MLA Joyram Engleng, MLA Dr. Numal Monin, MLA Bir Bhadra Hagjer, BJP West Karbi Anglong district president Arun Terang and all EMs.
KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang apprised the Union Minister about long-pending demand of Autonomous State comprising the two hill districts Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao by implementing Article 244 (A) of the Constitution of India. He also mentioned about direct funding system to the council and to review its annual budgetary.
A memorandum was also submitted to Union Law and Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad in demand of immediate implementation of Article 244 (A) and exclusion of both the two hill districts from greater galim and scraping of Clause 8 of the BLT Accord.
The Union Minister said that the Prime Minister had taken initiative for the development of the Northeast. He also assured for the discussion on the issue of Autonomous State. Ravi Shankar Prasad held a discussion with leaders of different social organizations like Hill Tribal League (HTL), Joint Action Committee for Autonomous State (JACCAS), All India Karbi Students’ Union (AIKSU) and others. The organizations jointly submitted a memorandum for immediate implementation of Article 244 (A) of Indian Constitution and opposing inclusion of land of Karbi Anglong in greater galim in the framework agreement between the NSCN (IM) and the Centre.
