KADC seeks announcement of KAAC election schedule soon

From a Correspondent
HAMREN, March 18: The Karbi Anglong District Congress Committee (KADCC) has welcomed the verdict of the Gauhati High Court in PIL No.3 of 2017 wherein it had said that the Government of Assam, through its senior Additiol Advocate General, D. Saikia, had given an undertaking before the court of the Chief Justice, Ajit Singh and senior judge, Manojit Bhuyan consenting to hold the election to Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, 2017 within the extended term of six months of the Council, having no proposal to extend its term further.
The KADC hoped that the Government of Assam would hold timely election within the extended term of six months and the KADC waited for an early announcement of schedule of the election by the State Election Commission.
The KADC expressed the apprehension that the Government of Assam might play a trick for extending another six months or so of the KAAC as there was a possibility of a persuasion by the present body of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council led by CEM, Tuliram Ronghang for doing so. If it happens, the KADC would not remain silent and approach the Supreme Court. The KADC appealed to the media for extending their cooperation in this regard, so that the ruling BJP could not step over the law for its vested interest. The rampant corruptions prevailing in the KAAC must be unearthed which required the cooperation of media, said KADC leaders at the press conference like former MLA Bidyasing Engleng, Pran Kr Dutta, KADMCC president Kasang Terangpi and others.
