Kaisara Hazarika: A Tribute

Published on

On the fateful afternoon of 18th August, after a tiring day from work, I was crestfallen by the news that our beloved grandmother, Kaisara Hazarika is no more. True, she was not keeping well lately and was giving all she had towards recover fully from a surgery. Her sudden demise has left us all who has spent time with her, grown up admiring her, dumb-founded with grief and shock. I vividly remember her optimism and determition to get better when I visited her last in the month of July. Even though she was 87 years old, she never let her age come in the way of her being a part of the happiness or sadness of all the people she knew. The number of hearts she touched was immense, which I could feel with conviction looking at the number of people turned up offering their condolences in our time of grief.

Surely, I and all my family members will always remember ni, (as we would call her) as the one true example of devotion towards Allah. Even at this age she never skipped maaz and recited the Quran with great enthusiasm. She always bestowed blessings and kind words for whoever sat beside her. I am sure, for her commitment to the service of Allah, He will reserve His best seat for her in His garden of roses.

Today, on her Chalisa, we rechristen the fond memories of ni and keep her blessings close to our hearts. For all we ever knew, ni would be the happiest whenever any good happened to anyone in the family. I am sure she is happily watching us from somewhere, blessing us and guiding us. It is our duty to honour her blessings and continue to bring peace to her soul.

ni, we are really overwhelmed that in spite of your love to the family, you chose to travel with Allah when His call came, leaving all of us behind. We submit to His design and supplicate for eterl peace be bestowed upon you in a world along with all departed souls.  Amen!
