Kala Vihar Sangeet Vidyalaya opens branch at Baksu

SIVASAGAR, September 14: Sivasagar has seen the opening of a new branch of Kala Vihar Sangeet Vidyalaya at Baksu. The opening was done by former Principal of Sibsagar Commerce College and Chief Minister’s State Honour recipient Dipali Chaliha recently.

The Vidyalaya will offer training on Xatriya dance, Borgeet, Khol Vadan and Ankiya Bhao to students.

Principal of Kala Vihar Sangeet Vidyalaya and Assam’s first woman Visharad in Khol Vadan, Mrili Mahanta Chaliha attended the opening ceremony as distinguished guest and spoke about the objectives of the Vidyalaya.

The programme, which was also addressed by young social worker Ranjan Mahanta and noted trainer Sada Hazarika, started with training on Xatriya dance.  

An 11-member magement committee with Mahendra Bora as president and Yamu Mahanta as secretary was also formed during the programme to run the Baksu branch of Kala Vihar Sangeet Vidyalaya.
