Kalaigaon BDO in police custody

KALAIGAON, March 14: Rangalal Sinha, senior BDO of Kalaigaon Development Block, has been remanded to police custody for three days in Kalaigaon Police Station. He was arrested on Friday evening on charges of corruption. Gupith Saikia, accountant of Kalaigaon Development Block has also been remanded to police custody by Udalguri Court for the same charges. Nirupam Hazarika, SDPO of Bhergaon Subdivision, told media persons that several organizations of Kalaigaon like AJYCP and AAKRSU complained against the BDO who had allegedly misappropriated the fund of IAY scheme. So the SDPO lodged an FIR and the Kalaigaon BDO was arrested under sections 406/420/409-34 IPC. Police also seized all files from 2008 to 2014 for more investigation.
