Kalaigaon girl shines in tiol dance competition

TANGLA, Jan 20: In a no mean feat, Nilakshi Devi, an eight-year old girl of Kalaigaon, won laurels in Kolkata recently by winning first position in classical and folk dance category in the 10th All India Indian Classical and Folk Dance Competition organized at Dwarakath Manch, Jorasanko Thakurbari and Oriental Semiry School playground, Kolkata from December 24 to December 30.  The event was organized by Bharat Sanskari Utsav in association with Kolkata Municipal Corporation and Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Nilakshi Devi, daughter of Mahadeb th and Konmoni Devi of Kalaigaon, won first position in classical (Xattriya) and folk dance category, also winning second position in modern dance category. President of Udalguri District Jourlists’ Union, Jayanta Kr. Das feted her. Various organizations and institutions, including Kalaigaon garik Samiti, and Sankari Kala Kristi Bikash Kendra, Kalaigaon have congratulated Nilakshi for her achievements in the tiol-level competition.
