Kalikho Pul distributes relief amount to fire victims

ITAGAR, May 14: Aruchal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul today handed over relief package of Rs 31 lakhs for the fire accident of May 11 in which 27 shops were completely burnt to ashes at Pasighat market in East Sing district.
In his maiden visit to the district headquarters, the chief minister visited the accident site accompanied by Lok Sabha MP Ninong Ering, WRD Minister Kamlung Mossang, Pasighat East MLA Kaling Moyong, Pasighat West MLA Tatung Jamoh, Mechuka MLA Passang D So, Tali MLA Markio Tado, Mariyang MLA Olom Panyang, Deputy Commissioner Isha Khosla and Commissioner Hage Kojeen.
Handing over the relief package, Pul urged that there should be no distinction made between the shop owners and the tents when distributing relief – pointing out that existing government guideline only referred to shop owners as the victim, an official communiqué informed.
Addressing a large gathering, he said shop tents too were liable to be compensated as they too suffer losses as their saleable items are also destroyed in such fire accidents.
Further the chief minister said the government would soon revise the existing relief package of Rs 5000-10000 to Rs 119000, and said that the state government would approach the Centre for the recommendation.
He informed that additiol relief package for the fire victim would be worked out soon under the Chief Minister’s Relief Package, where both shop owners and tents would be equally compensated.
