Kalita Jagosthi Sanmilan meet concludes

TAMULPUR, Jan 31: The 12th biennial session of the Kalita Jagosthi Sanmilan, Asom, an organisation of the Kalita community, which was held at Kumar Bhaskar Barma ground here with a three-day colorful programme from January 29, came to an today.

On the concluding day today, a cultural procession was taken out which was flagged off by former teacher Prafulla Ch Mahanta. More than 500 people participated in the cultural rally.   

An open meeting was held at 1.00 pm which was presided over by former president of Sanmilan Dr Pabindra th Talukdar. BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary iugurated the open meeting. Mohilary in his speech said that he wants development of every community in BTAD.

He also revealed that he has no objection over granting ST status to Kalita community. The BTC chief further said that a guest would be constructed in Kokrajhar for Kalita community.

Kokrajhar MP ba Kr Sarania also addressed the meeting.  The souvenir published on the occasion was released by former professor of GU Dr Umesh Deka.  Dr Bhaben Ch Kalita, adviser of the Sanmilan, attended the session as appointed speaker.
