Kamrup DC issues instructions for observance of code of conduct

Rangia, March 5: Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Election Officer (DEO) of Kamrup district, Vinod Seshan has directed all heads of departments under the administrative control of Kamrup district to take immediate and necessary steps for strict observance of the Model Code of Conduct.

In a letter addressed to all heads of Departments under Kamrup District, DC and DEO Seshan instructed that in view of the model code of conduct (MCC) coming into force with effect from March 4, no development scheme, beneficiary related schemes can be started till completion of election process. In this regard, even if the approval of any scheme was accorded and accordingly relevant fund has been sanctioned but the related works had not been started before the announcement of assembly election, the said scheme cannot be started now.

He further instructed not to distribute any individual beneficiary item like mosquito net, blanket, CI sheet, handloom articles and yarn which are available in some of the offices till the election process is completed. In this connection, DC & DEO directed the departmental heads to keep those materials under proper lock and key and to prepare an inventory of items immediately and submit a copy of the list to the District Election Officer.
