Karbi Anglong Congress president resigns

HOWRAGHAT, June 24: Karbi Anglong District Congress Committee (KADCC) president Mongal Sing Timung has tendered his resigtion today at KADCC office, Diphu. Timung submitted his resigtion letter in presence of Congress MP Biren Sing Engti, ex-MLA Bidya Sing Engleng and former Minister Rupam Sing Ronghang.

Mongal Sing Timung, EM, KAAC  joined the BJP yesterday along with other 14 elected MACs ( EMs) and four  nomited MACs including KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang.

However, Biren Sing Engti, MP claimed to come in power again in the coming up council elections in the next year. Engti further said the reneged EMs and MACs have done great mistake. “Congress will return in the next parliamentary as well as KAAC election with grand victory,” Engti claimed.

While talking to mediapersons, Engti said that nomition letter for the KADCC president will be sent tomorrow to the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee. Afterward, door to door campaigning will be intensified, Engti added.

The Karbi Anglong Congress suffered major setback after the 18 MACs and Ems of KAAC joined the BJP on Thursday. According to report received, many Congress leaders and workers are contacting randomly with the BJP senior leaders to join the saffron party in the district.
