Karbi Anglong Police bust car-lifting racket

HAMREN/HOWRAGHAT, April 3: In reference to the Borlangfer PS case no. 12/2018 U/S 302/379/34 IPC, when the body of driver Devand Kr. Sah of Dimapur, who drove a Mahindra Maximo car bearing registration number AS-09C-9284, was found early morning on March 17 on the Diphu- Lumding Road, thorough and in-depth investigation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Muzzafar Hussain.

 Following the investigation, Karbi Anglong Police arrested one Faijul Rahman involved in the case from the Dimapur-galand border on Monday. During interrogation, the accused Faijul Rahman (who origilly hails from Hojai district and was temporarily living in Burma Camp, Dimapur) stated that Devand Shah was murdered by Zakir Hussain alias Motu Bhai, origilly from Murajhar of Hojai district, and Dildar alias Fahim.

 In the meantime, during ka checking at Dhansiri outpost area under Diphu PS on Monday morning, one stolen Alto car bearing registration number- AR 01D 3376 was recovered. The driver of this stolen car, Zakir Hussain could not produce any documents in support of the vehicle. Hence, he was arrested and forwarded to Diphu Court on Tuesday.

 Faijul Rahman of the Borlangfer PS case was also forwarded to court on Tuesday. In the Diphu court premises, Faijul Rahman identified Zakir Hussain, arrested in connection with the recovered Alto in Dhansiri, as the same Zakir who had killed Devand Kr Shah.

 In this connection, Badarpur PS of Cachar district had registered a case in connection with the same stolen Alto vehicle-vide Badarpur PS Case no. 105/18 u/s 120B/302/379/34 IPC whereby, the driver of the Alto was murdered and his body thrown on the road at Umrangso in Dima Hasao district. Karbi Anglong police are now trying to apprehend the third accused, Dildar alias Fahim involved in the car-lifting racket.
