Karbi new year celebrated across Karbi Anglong

HAMREN, Feb 2: The Karbi New Year was celebrated on Wednesday in different places across Karbi Anglong.  

The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) celebrated the Karbi new year at Council Colony, Diphu, where Bidyasing Rongpi, EM KAAC i/c Art and Culture, was present as chief guest along with guest of honour Dhaneswar Engti, joint secretary KAAC, Suren Kramsa, president of Karbi Lammet Amei (KLA) and others dignitaries were present.

The celebration committee had organized different competitions like song, dance and art among children and a colorful cultural event was held in the evening.  The Karbi Student Association (KSA) also celebrated the new year at its office premises with focus on media awareness campaign to highlight the media role’s in the new century of information and technology.

The KSA also felicitated media persons with Karbi traditiol Poho (muffler) and Phak ok kimung and organized a feast.
