Tezpur: The seven-day long Kartik Hazarika National Theatre Festival, organized by the socio-cultural organization Jangam in association with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam, was held at Nehru Maidam in Tezpur. It concluded on Wednesday with a popular play of renowned actor Naseeruddin Shah - Ismat Aapke Naam - inaugurated by acclaimed actor Adil Hussain.

Sonitpur Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar Deka watched the play along with 1,600 people of Tezpur and members of Jangam. During the inauguration, Adil Hussain said, “Drama should be introduced from school-level like other subjects. When students learn drama from the beginning, they can build their career in this field.” He urged that government to take necessary steps for this. During the festival, 14 plays were staged by national and international artistes. The festival included street plays, book fairs, trade fairs and much more.
