KALAIGAON, November 2: Kendukalai Xahitya Samaj, along with several organizations of Kalaigaon, staged a dhar on Monday to demand punishment transfer of a controversial teacher, Durlabh Baruah of Kalaigaon Higher Secondary School.

According to sources, Durlabh Baruah had been requested to pay a small dotion for holding the silver jubilee year celebration of Udalguri Xahitya Xabha on October 31. But the teacher allegedly refused to pay it and lodged an FIR against two workers of Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX) that they had forcefully demanded money from him.

The residents of Kalaigaon were shocked at false complaint and they sat down for a three-hour protest in front of the Kalaigaon Higher Secondary School on Monday under the initiative of    Kendukalai Xahitya Samaj along with Kalaigaon unit of AASU, AJYCP and KMSS. Several social workers like Mahendra Saikia, Dibyajyoti Baruah, Pankaj Hazarika, Satram Borah and Arup Sarma took part in this protest. Meanwhile, around 100 protesters submitted a memorandum to the Inspector of School, Udalguri, through the Circle Officer of Kalaigaon Revenue Circle to take up the issue. They stated in the memorandum, “A teacher who can challenge the Axam Xahitya Xabha should be transferred from Kalaigaon immediately.”
