KHADC chief slams government for delay in release of fund

FROM A REPORTER

SHILLONG, June 15: The KHADC CEM PN Syiem on Wednesday slammed the state government for delaying the release of fund amounting to Rs. 270 crore sanctioned by the central government to all the Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) in the state in February earlier this year.

Speaking to newsmen here, Syiem said, “On what ground has the state government put on hold this fincial assistance scheme which was particularly allocated for the District Council.  This delay has not only affected the Council but also all the developmental works in scheduled areas within the jurisdiction of the Council.”

Stating that the fincial assistance meant for the District Council cannot be allowed to be misused by others, Syiem also said that they want the release of the scheme with interest.

If the implementation of the scheme is delayed, the state government will be held responsible, he further added.

“We want the release of fund so that we can use it for developmental works,” Syiem said adding that at the end of the day people will blame the state government for spoiling developmental works.

He further said that the KHADC has written to the concerned ministers including the Fince and Home ministers to release the funds.
