KHADC chief taunts Mukul

STAFF CORRESPONDENT

SHILLONG, June 3: Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Pynshngain nda Syiem today said that time has come for Chief Minister Mukul Sangma to reconcile with realities.

Speaking to The Sentinel, Syiem with  reference to the Tura by- poll debacle and the Governor’s ruling in favour of him, said, “It seems that the Chief Minister has not realised that he has lost the confidence of the people in Garo Hills and the latest being the loss in the eyes of the law.”

Syiem, who was in a bitter tussle with Chief Minister on the dual post legislation, has now got a chance to attack Sangma as the Governor alluded to the Election Commission remarks on Article 191 (1) (a) of the Constitution and ruled that he has not attracted disqualification.

He is the only one of the six elected MLAs and MDCs who refused to relinquish the twin post by challenging through numerous legal petitions.

Being a Congress MLA himself, Syiem refused to be drag into the dissident activities with the party fold. “I don’t want to drag into the ongoing crisis because the AICC knows best on how to resolve it”, Syiem stated in a tone that clearly underlines his displeasure with the Chief Minister.
