KHADC summer session concludes

SHILLONG, June 23: The Chairman of the KHADC Mansturdy Nongrem adjourned the summer session of the KHADC sine die after the District Council 2016-18 budget was passed on Thursday. Interestingly, no cut motion was moved by any of the opposition members regarding the demands for grants for the various heads of departments. KHADC chief Pynshngain N Syiem has presented a deficit budget for the 2016-2017 fiscal on the first day of summer session. The total estimated expenditure is Rs 1, 89, 47, 72,150, which is more than the anticipated revenue collection of Rs 189, 47, 53,660. Earlier, the KHADC had passed a vote on account for three months for the expenditure incurred till June 30.

The KHADC has passed various bills on Thursday which includes United Khasi Jaintia Hills Autonomous District (Magement and Control of Forest) (Sixth Amendment) Bill, 2016, United Khasi Jaintia Hills District Fishery (Second Amendment) Bill, 2016, Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Nomition and Election of the Syiem and electors of Nongspung Syiemship) Bill, 2016, Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Appointment of Sirdar and Headmen of Myrdon Sirdarship) Bill, 2016, Khasi Hills Autonomous District(Nomition and Election of the Syiem, Deputy Syiem and Lyngdoh Nobosohphoh Syiemship) Bill, 2016 and Khasi Hills Autonomous District (Appointment and succession of the Sirdar, Myntri and Headmen of Mawdon Sirdarship) Bill, 2016.
