Khagaripather residents slam BJP government, stage protest

From a Correspondent

MARGHERITA, September 5: Before the assembly election, the BJP assured the people of Assam that all-round development would take place. Since the last 15 years, people of Khagaripather under Bhitorpowai Gaon panchayat of 124 no. Margherita LAC have been demanding construction of a bridge but all in vain.

On Sunday, more than 200 local people of Khagripather staged a protest against Dibrugarh  BJP MP Rameswar Teli and shouted various slogans against Teli and the BJP-led government of Assam. The people of Khagaripather are in distress as the earlier wooden bridge broke and despite several demands, a new concrete bridge has not been constructed. This has affected transportation and communication.

Local residents of Khagaripather alleged that former Congress MLA Pradyut Bordoloi cheated them for the last 15 years and now Dibrugarh BJP MP Rameswar Teli was also giving false assurances. They demanded that a new bridge should be constructed soon.
