Khandu assures fund for flood protection work

Itagar, Aug  9: A delegate of panchayat leaders and gaon burahs of Dambuk Sub-Division led by local MLA-cum-Parliamentary Secretary Gum Tayeng, Loklung and Paglam Block ZPM Bimol Perme on Tuesday called on Chief Minister Pema Khandu at his office chamber and submitted a representation seeking allocation of requisite fund for flood protection work along the Dibang River. The members briefed the CM about the hardships and problems being faced by the local people of various villages like Bomzir, Bizari, Anpum, Kaling-I & II, Keba-Tili, Banggo and Paglam under Dambuk Administrative due to unprecedented floods triggered by Dibang River every year during summer season.
Informing that every year the flood water creates havocs in those villages destroying houses and standing crops while rending hundreds homeless, the members said that immediate diversion of Dibang River from entering the course of Dotung and Sisiry River is need of the hour to save the lives and properties of area. In this regard, the members fervently appealed the CM to allocate requisite fund for flood protection work along the Dibang River.   
Meanwhile, the CM, after giving a patient hearing to the grievances of visiting delegates, reportedly assured to allocate requisite fund to start the work from October this year.
