Khandu oversees preparations for Dalai Lama’s visit

Itagar, Jan 23: Aruchal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Sunday visited the Yidga Choisin Gonpa at Tawang, the venue which is being revamped to host the proposed visit of His Holiness the 16th Dalai Lama in the month of March next.

While taking stock of preparations for the grand visit, Khandu expressed satisfaction over the pace of work, an official report informed.

He on the day also inspected the progress of work at High Altitude Stadium, Tawang. The Rostrum within the stadium which is getting its fil touch would be iugurated by the Dalai Lama during his visit.

Further, while informing that a government college is to be started in the district from the coming academic calendar, the chief minister said, “As a permanent structure shall take time to come up, a temporary location/building needs to be explored to house the institution,” while suggesting that the Government HQ Primary School and ground floor of the Rostrum within the stadium could be considered for the same. VThe establishment of a college has been one of the long yearned demands of the area.  Khandu was accompanied by Tawang MLA Tsering Tashi, ZPC Jambey Tsering, DC, SP, Padmashree Lama Thupten Phuntsok, PWD SE and the DDSE on the occasion, the report added.
