Bokajan, June 1: The elite businessman of Bokajan, Harichand Gupta, who was denied bail and remanded back to judicial custody, eventually led the investigators to the recovery of two more stolen vehicles on Thrusday.

Police is trying to establish Gupta’s possible connection with a racket of car lifters active in inter-State operations. Gupta was arrested on Tuesday midnight for possessing a stolen Toyota Fortuner said to have been lifted from Harya.

The shocking revelations of Gupta made in custody led police to the recovery of another Toyota Innova car believed to have been lifted from the same State of Harya. Another car of Gupta, a Mahindra Bolero, was recovered lying broken in the premises of Bokajan Police Station. “The vehicle was towed here a few months back after it met with an accident in the Phulbari area over NH 39,” said a police officer.

In yet another incident, the Officer in-Charge of Khatkhati Police Station, Dipak Bora intercepted a Mitsubishi Pajero car on being suspicious of the registration number. The car, heading towards Dimapur bearing a Rajasthan number was found fake. Police have held the driver Meren Zhimomi of Industrial Village, Dimapur.
