KHM calls on Health minister with lab reports

SHILLONG, Feb 10: The Khun Hynniewtrep tiol Awakening Movement (KHM) youth wing today met Health Minister AL Hek to apprise him of the reports of the water sample collected from Iewduh water reservoir of both Municipal Board and Public Health Engineering (PHE).

It maybe remained that KHM Youth Wing had collected water sample from the Shillong Municipal Board and Public Health Engineering (PHE) department water reservoir located at Iewduh market on February 1, to determine if the water being supplied in the city if fit for consumption.

The samples were later sent for testing to Pasteur Institute and Medical Research Institute in which the source of water from the PHE tank was tested to be chemically satisfactory and the Institute have suggested for fresh samples.

Thomas Passah president KHM youth wing said that their main concern is whether they have use bleaching powder to treat the water.

He said, “The water sample collected from the Municipal Reservoir which was tested in the same centre indicated the water is safe for human consumption.”

Meanwhile, Health Minister A L Hek informed them that the water samples were sent by the government to Gauhati and Pasteur Institute where the reports were similar and the Minister had assured them the government will look into the matter seriously.
