Kidnapped businessmen rescued, one arrested

Batadrava, April 27: The Mairabari Police on Thursday rescued two kidnapped businessmen from Sonitpur district and also nabbed a kidnapper. According to sources, a police team jointly led by Bhupen kalita, officer in charge of Mairabari police station and S.I Musfic Ali succeeded to rescue the two businessmen namely Rofikul Islam and Samsul Haque from Lakupara under Misamari  Police station of Sonitpur. The team apprehended one kidnapper identified as Baharul Islam of Datiyalbori under Bheleuguri Police Station of Morigaon who was among the three kidnappers involved in the case. It may be mentioned here that, the two businessmen were kidnapped on April 22 from the Mairabari area. The kidnappers had sought a ransom of Rs 5 lakh over phone for releasing both the businessmen. Based on a FIR received from the family members of Samsul Haque, the Mairabari Police lodged a case 133/18 , U/S- 342/384/ 386/34 I.P.C and within 24 hours successfully rescued the two businessmen. Meanwhile, police are in search of two other absconding kidnappers.
