Kidpped former teacher rescued by BSF

Shillong, January 21: A 65–year–old former school teacher was rescued by troops of the BSF from the clutches of kidppers at Fakiro of South Garo Hills District. The ex–school teacher identified a Robinson R Marak was kidpped from his residence at village Chambalgiri under Baghmara police station on December 17 last. Informing about the rescue operations, the BSF PRO said, “On Jan 20, at about 1940 hrs when a group of kidppers moving along the zero line of the border were challenged by alert BSF troops, the kidppers escape into the jungle area in the cover of darkness, leaving the abducted person behind”. The kidppers were trying to shift the abducted man to Bangladesh. Earlier, on December 29 last, a kidpper was killed on the intertiol border of BOP Debram in a joint operation by BSF and police, while trying to get the kidpped teacher released. It may be mentioned that this is the border stretch that the Indian authorities have appraised the Bangladesh counterparts about the existence of Bangladeshi miscreants who abduct people for ransom.
