KMSS burns PM's effigy over land swap deal

TINSUKIA/GOLAGHAT, May 8: The activists of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) today burnt the effigy of Prime Minister rendra Modi here in protest against land swap deal with Bangladesh.

The KMSS slammed rendra Modi led BJP Government in Centre for  passing of the Constitution amendment bill for operatiolising the Land Boundary Agreement with Bangladesh aimed at resolving the decades-old border dispute between the two neighboring tion.   

Earlier on Thursday , the AGP called a 10-hour Assam bandh  in protest against the deal. The AGP members today burnt effigies of Prime Minister rendra Modi and chief minister Tarun Gogoi in Tinsukia.

The Assam BJP, which is obviously on the back foot for retracting from their stand on land swap deal on Thursday also took out a protest march and burnt an effigy of Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi for his opposition to the exclusion of Assam from the protocol.

In Golaght also KMSS activists led by Golaghat district committee leaders Ripun Mahanta and Prabin Das burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Modi protesting the decision of the Union Government of handing over Assam’s land to Bangladesh.
