KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi warns Government over Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016

Guwahati: Massive protest staged from Lakhidhar Bora Kshetra on Friday by the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samittee (KMSS) and Assam Yuva Chattra Parishad (AYCP) on Friday against the proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016.

Chanting slogans against the BJP-led Government, KMSS and AYCP had demanded the immediate resignation of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

Speaking to media, peasant leader, Akhil Gogoi said, “BJP had betrayed the people of the region, they have made false promises before the 2016 elections and also in 2014 Lok Sabha elections.”

Gogoi also questioned about the BJP’s promise on the Assam Accord which they promised to follow word by word in their vision 2020.

He also lashed out at AASU for not uttering any word against the matter. He also stated that Sarbananda Sonowal doesn’t deserve to carry out the title ‘Jatiya Nayak’ given by AASU.

Both the organizations then carried out a rally to the Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner’s office from the Lakhidhar Bora Kshetra led by Akhil Gogoi.

KMSS leader also warned the State Government that If the Centre doesn’t withdraw the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016, the people of Assam will throw out the Bharatiya Janata Party out of power in the state.

“We will not allow any Bangladeshi to settle down in Assam,” Gogoi added.
